Meaningful Work with Lasting Impact: Lynda’s Journey with The Work Collective
From frustration to fulfilment
Lynda’s involvement with The Work Collective began serendipitously during an afternoon drive when she noticed an AWF office. Frustrated by the volatility of her current casual employment, she took a leap of faith and reached out to AWF in pursuit of more stable work. Meanwhile, Lynda was relying on WINZ payments to make ends meet.
Before discovering AWF and The Work Collective, Lynda had found dissatisfaction with other employment agencies. Her previous agency experience left her dissatisfied due to a misalignment between advertised roles and actual opportunities. Payroll discrepancies and inconsistent work further fuelled her search for more stable employment.
A shift towards meaningful work
Lynda’s initial visit to AWF introduced her to Consultant Vicki, who opened the door to The Work Collective and explained that The Work Collective supported candidates who faced challenges securing work and that there may be upskilling opportunities via The Work Collectives talent development programme. From her very first day, Lynda said she felt welcome the moment she walked in the door. AWF and The Work Collective were able to offer her consistent work with full-time hours that suited her and started the very next day. This not only provided financial stability but significantly reduced Lynda’s stress levels. Lynda really enjoyed her work placement with the client she was assigned to, expressing not just satisfaction with the work but also with the broader AWF team.
Empowered through education
A pivotal moment in Lynda’s journey was the successful completion of an OSH forklift course facilitated by The Work Collective. This accomplishment has not only broadened her skill set but has also translated into tangible benefits such as a pay rise, showcasing the practical advantages of upskilling. The course has opened doors to promising future prospects, enhancing Lynda’s career trajectory and AWF’s client is delighted Lynda has additional skills meaning she can competently complete a wider range of tasks and duties .
Lynda’s impact and future
Lynda’s impact has been profound. Her unwavering positivity, reliability, and optimism, even in the face of life’s challenges, have earned her admiration from both the client where she is placed and AWF and The Work Collective team’s. AWF takes pride in supporting Lynda through The Work Collective’s Talent Development initiative. Lynda’s journey exemplifies the positive influence initiatives like The Work Collective can have on individuals facing employment barriers.
Through a blend of consistent work, upskilling opportunities, and collaborative support from AWF and The Work Collective, Lynda’s life has undergone a significant transformation. The Work Collective remains at the forefront of creating meaningful employment opportunities, contributing to a more inclusive and prosperous New Zealand.
